Erica Poyser
Erica is a young glassblower from Derbyshire and first fell in love with glass when she started working with the material as a part of her Design Crafts BA degree. After facing the challenges of completing her art degree through several Covid-19 lockdowns she graduated from De Montfort University in 2021 and moved down to Devon to start her career as a glassblowing assistant. Here she has started to learn the infinite skills and possibilities in glassblowing, with the goal to create her own new collection of work. The English Artist is the first gallery to stock Erica's work and is delighted to be supporting her career as her practice evolves and her work continues to grow with her skills.
Erica enjoys experimenting the most, feeling how the glass wants to move and working with or against it to create unique forms that each have their own character. She enjoys combining and layering different colours to create vibrant swatches of movement across her work. Every colour reacts differently in the heat of the furnace and as they pull and stretch across the surface, they can make the molten piece naturally want to form unique shapes. Erica likes to play with the glass to enhance the natural form creating harmonious movement within the pieces that shows off their vibrant colours.
